The almost three-year legal dispute between boxing promoter Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Boxing and YouTube personality Jake Paul has come to an end.
Hearn initiated a defamation lawsuit against Paul in 2022, seeking $100 million in damages through the New York courts.
This action was taken after Paul accused Hearn in an IFL TV interview of bribing boxing judge Glen Feldman.
Feldman controversially scored the Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano fight at Madison Square Garden, New York, 97-93 in favor of Taylor.
Taylor and Serrano had a highly anticipated rematch last year, as part of the undercard for Paul`s controversial fight with Mike Tyson.
While Taylor, with a record of 24 wins and 1 loss (6 KOs), secured a unanimous decision in the rematch, their first fight was a split decision. The judges` scores of 95-94 in the rematch more accurately reflected the closely contested nature of their bout.
Now, with undisputed super-lightweight champion Katie Taylor preparing for her trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano, who has 47 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 31 KOs, on July 11, Hearn and Paul have settled their legal differences.
Lawyers representing Hearn, Feldman, and Paul officially filed for the lawsuit`s dismissal on Monday.
Consequently, the case will not proceed to trial, with Hearn, Taylor`s long-time promoter, apparently deciding to drop the matter against Paul.
Paul, meanwhile, is continuing to expand his stable of female fighters under his MVP Promotions banner, having developed a strong professional relationship with Serrano.
