A spectacular battle between titans of strength sports might be on the horizon this spring.
Eddie Hall, crowned World’s Strongest Man in 2017, has announced his preparations to take on Mariusz Pudzianowski, a five-time World’s Strongest Man champion. This highly anticipated matchup is rumored to be part of the KSW 105 event scheduled for April 26th at PreZero Arena in Gliwice, Poland.
“I’ve been aiming to transition into MMA for a while now, and it seems the perfect opportunity has arrived,” Hall stated. “The chance to fight Mariusz Pudzianowski came about, and it feels like a fitting challenge to step into this world. KSW is undoubtedly a leading fight organization in Europe, comparable to UFC’s dominance in America. Mariusz has consistently been ranked among the top MMA fighters in Europe, making him a truly formidable opponent.”
Currently, KSW has not officially confirmed the fight.
Hall mentioned his goal to reduce his weight from approximately 360 pounds to around 330 pounds for the fight. He also shared that the round duration was negotiated to four minutes, a compromise between his preference for two-minute rounds and Pudzianowski’s desire for the standard five-minute rounds.
This upcoming event will mark Hall’s debut in professional one-on-one MMA. He previously participated in a 2 vs. 1 match at the World Freak Fight League last July, where he secured a victory by knockout against The Neffati Brothers.
Pudzianowski brings significant MMA experience to the table, with 26 professional fights and 17 wins. However, the 48-year-old is entering this potential bout following two consecutive losses by strikes.
