Caroline Dubois, the WBC world lightweight champion, is determined to make a strong statement in her upcoming fight against Bo Mi Re Shin of South Korea this Friday.
The fight will take place at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, England, as part of the undercard for the Natasha Jonas vs Lauren Price event.
This all-women’s fight card, organized by promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer and broadcast live on Sky Sports, promises an exciting night of boxing with numerous compelling matches.
Dubois, known for her confidence and holding a record of 10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw with 5 knockouts, is confident that her exceptional skills and knockout power will be the highlight of the evening.
Just two months after her first title defense against Jessica Camara, the 24-year-old Dubois is now preparing to face Shin, the WBC’s top-ranked contender, who has a record of 18 wins, 2 losses, and 3 draws with 10 knockouts.
Despite retaining her WBC title and being promoted to full champion, Dubois’s January fight against Camara ended in a technical draw.
The fight was stopped in the third round due to a cut above Camara’s left eye, caused by Dubois, who had been in control from the beginning.
Now, ‘Sweet Caroline’ is focused on Shin, who is known for a split decision loss to Delfine Persoon in 2023.
With strong self-belief, Dubois is looking beyond this fight, aiming to become the undisputed champion in the 135lb lightweight division.
“I’m not sure what Shin is thinking or what her team is telling her that makes her think she has a chance against me,” Dubois stated at a recent press conference.
“It’s bold of her to believe she can step into the ring and defeat me because she is not better than me. I am confident in my ability to stop this fight early.”
“[My goal is to become the] undisputed champion by the end of this year, or at the latest, early next year.”
The other lightweight title holders – Terri Harper, Beatriz Ferreira, and Stephanie Han – are the obstacles in Dubois’s path to undisputed glory, and she appears to have them all in her sights.
