UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis and undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev are finally scheduled to face off. UFC CEO Dana White recently confirmed the highly anticipated matchup will serve as the main event for UFC 319.
The championship bout is slated for August 16th at the United Center in Chicago. This event marks the first time the UFC will hold a show in the “Windy City” since 2019.
Du Plessis, who has remained unbeaten since joining the promotion in 2020, captured the middleweight championship earlier in 2024 and has since successfully defended it. His opponent, Khamzat Chimaev, a breakout star known for his dominant performances, has long been considered a future champion. Chimaev earns his title shot following a significant victory over former champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 308.
