Veteran heavyweight Derrick Lewis is scheduled to headline another UFC event.
The trusted heavyweight will face undefeated prospect Tallison Teixeira in the main event of UFC Nashville on July 12th. News of the booking was confirmed by sources.
This will be Lewis`s 30th fight in the UFC. At 40 years old, he returns after more than a year away. His last appearance was in May 2024, where he secured a third-round knockout victory over Rodrigo Nascimento at UFC St. Louis. This win marked only his second victory in his last six bouts.
The 25-year-old Teixeira, an undefeated prospect with an 8-0 record and standing 6-foot-7, is coming off a successful UFC debut in February. He was signed after competing on Dana White`s Contender Series. In his debut, he stopped Justin Tafa with strikes in just 35 seconds, maintaining his perfect record and finishing rate.
This event marks the UFC`s return to Nashville, Tennessee. The promotion last held an event there in August 2023, which featured Cory Sandhagen defeating Rob Font by unanimous decision in the main event.
