Derek Chisora Announces Location for His Final Boxing Match
British heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora has surprised fans by announcing that his 50th and final professional fight will take place in London. This revelation comes shortly after his impressive victory over Otto Wallin, which was initially billed as his last appearance on British soil.
Chisora, known for his unconventional and aggressive fighting style, secured an unexpected win in his 49th fight last weekend. The bout, promoted as ‘The Last Dance’, was thought to be his penultimate career match. However, the 41-year-old veteran has now decided to conclude his boxing journey in the British capital.
The announcement, made via social media, contradicts the previous ‘Last Dance’ theme and ensures that Chisora’s loyal British fans will have one more opportunity to see him in action. This decision marks a significant U-turn in his career plans.
Chisora’s recent performance against Wallin, which also served as an IBF eliminator for the number two ranking, has been hailed as one of his finest. It marked his third consecutive victory, a feat he hadn’t achieved since 2019.
Following his triumph, Chisora expressed interest in facing one of three opponents for his final fight: a rematch with current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, a bout against IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois, or an all-London clash with his friend Anthony Joshua.
Throughout his long and sometimes controversial career, Chisora has twice challenged for world titles. His decision to continue competing at the age of 41 demonstrates his enduring passion for the sport and his commitment to ending his professional journey on a high note in front of his home crowd.
