David Adeleye Sets Sights on Bigger Challenges Ahead of Jeamie TKV Bout
Heavyweight prospect David Adeleye is gearing up for his April 5 clash with Jeamie TKV at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena. The all-British matchup will feature on the undercard of the Dillian Whyte vs Joe Joyce event. However, Adeleye has revealed that he had hoped for a more challenging opponent to accelerate his path to world-level competition.
Following a setback against Fabio Wardley in 2023, Adeleye (13-1, 12 KOs) joined forces with renowned trainer Adam Booth to refine his explosive style. The partnership seems to be paying off, as evidenced by Adeleye’s impressive first-round victory over Solomon Dacres in his most recent bout.
Despite securing the English title, Adeleye had set his sights on facing Tom Schwarz, who previously fought Tyson Fury in 2019. Schwarz, who was defeated by Fury in two rounds, has since struggled to establish himself at the world level. Notably, he was disqualified in a controversial bout against Senad Gashi for allegedly taking a dive.
Adeleye expressed his preference for the Schwarz matchup, viewing it as a step towards his ultimate goal of challenging for world honors. “Schwarz is the fight I would’ve really liked,” Adeleye told Boxing News. “He’s only lost once to Tyson [Fury]. Those are the kind of names we were looking at, and they’re the sort of names that really whet my appetite.”
The 28-year-old Londoner remains focused on his long-term objectives, stating, “I want the big names. That’s the aim – to be in mandatory positions and top 15 with the sanctioning bodies. I want to win world titles.”
As Adeleye prepares to face TKV (8-1, 5 KOs), who recently secured a ninth-round stoppage victory over Michael Webster, he remains determined to prove himself worthy of greater challenges and continue his ascent in the heavyweight division.
