Popular heavyweight boxer Dave Allen is planning a busy schedule for the remainder of the year, with his sights set on a potential British title opportunity.
The 33-year-old fighter has become a fan favourite in the UK, and his impressive sixth-round knockout victory against Johnny Fisher further added to his captivating journey.
Following a career marked by ups and downs, the former gambling addict is looking to make significant strides, with the British title winner (Adeleye-TKV rematch) as a key target later this year.
His powerful stoppage win over Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs) occurred last Saturday. Allen, known as the `White Rhino`, ended the fight decisively with a crushing left hook.
This win was a rematch of their controversial bout last December, where Allen (24-7, 2 KOs) knocked Fisher down but ultimately lost by split decision.
After securing the victory in the rematch, the fighter from Doncaster signed a two-fight deal with Eddie Hearn`s Matchroom Boxing, marking a return to his previous promoter and signalling positive prospects for his future.
Eddie Hearn has already suggested that Allen could headline a show, likely in Sheffield, Yorkshire, coming up in September.
However, even prior to the September date, Allen is hoping for another fight, potentially against American boxer Christopher Lovejoy, to happen soon.
His major goal for the end of the year is a shot at the British title, facing the winner of the Adeleye-TKV rematch, though that fight date is still unconfirmed.
Speaking on DAZN’s Ariel and Ade show, Allen stated, “The plan is to headline locally in September, but I don’t want to wait that long.”
“There`s a fighter named Chris Lovejoy I was supposed to face five years ago… He`s not very skilled, but that doesn`t concern me.”
“If I`m going to stay active before September, I`d be happy to fight him. Then, towards the end of the year, if the British title is available… I`d love to challenge the winner [of the Adeleye-TKV 2 rematch].”
Although not officially announced, Adeleye and TKV are anticipated to have their rematch later this year, following their controversial first fight last month.
