Darren Till is promising an action-packed fight with no shortage of aggression in his upcoming second appearance for Misfits Boxing.
The former UFC title contender is set to face fellow mixed martial artist Darren Stewart in the cruiserweight main event of Misfits Boxing 21, taking place this Friday in Derby, England. Both fighters successfully made weight for their bout on Friday and subsequently engaged in a faceoff.
During their staredown, both Till and Stewart maintained a respectful demeanor. Till specifically expressed a desire to avoid typical trash talk, preferring to focus on the fighting itself.
“Obviously, I’m going to look to knock him out over eight rounds,” Till stated. “There’s not a lot to say. A lot of people are here for a lot of gimmicky shit, but I’m a violent motherf*cker and Darren’s a violent motherf*cker, so we’re f*cking coming for violence. It doesn’t matter about the respect. You all talk about, ‘respect, respect, respect,’ it’s not about that. This is fighting.”
He elaborated on his view of combat: “We’re going to go in to f*cking absolutely annihilate each other and then we’re going to have respect after. That’s how fighting is, so a few people come here, a few of of the things here tonight, it doesn’t always have to be about all bullshit. You’re still going to get violence tomorrow and that’s what you’re here for.”
The Misfits Boxing 21 card features a total of nine bouts. Another highly anticipated matchup is Chase DeMoor defending his heavyweight title against Tanner Tolman from Canada. DeMoor recently caused a stir at a press conference on Wednesday when he threw a bottle with notable accuracy at his past opponent, Tempo Arts.
That incident nearly escalated into a brawl involving Tempo Arts and Godson Umeh, another of DeMoor`s rivals. However, DeMoor`s interaction with Tolman at the weigh-ins was significantly less heated.
Following an awkward verbal exchange, Tolman informed DeMoor that Godson had sent a gift for him. Tolman presented a small case containing a candy necklace, which DeMoor promptly began eating.
“Godson sent me a gift for you,” Tolman said. “He feels bad. Just something he thought you were worth.”
