UFC CEO Dana White explained his unexpected invitation to a dinner with President Donald Trump and comedian Bill Maher, arranged by musician Kid Rock.
This dinner drew attention due to the known conflict between Trump and Maher. White, a friend of Trump, was invited by Kid Rock, despite only knowing Maher from a podcast appearance.
Kid Rock sought White`s presence fearing the dinner might become tense given Trump and Maher`s past animosity, including a past lawsuit from Trump against Maher.
However, the dinner was amicable, and White received a signed list of insults Maher had previously directed at Trump as a souvenir. Maher confirmed this on his show, stating it was an icebreaker.
White described being mostly an observer but found the meeting positive. He, along with Trump and Kid Rock, believe that people generally like Trump after meeting him personally.
White also recounted a humorous exchange with Maher about their attire, as Maher was in a suit while White was not. Maher admitted the dinner changed his perception of Trump.
White emphasized the importance of such dialogues between people with differing views.
