Six-time UFC veteran Dan Argueta has officially announced his retirement from professional mixed martial arts (MMA).
The 31-year-old bantamweight fighter shared the news on Tuesday. He confirmed his decision to call it a career following his recent release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
It’s with a heavy heart that today I’ve decided to hang up my gloves. After receiving news of the UFC not giving me the opportunity to finish out the final fight on my contract, I’ve ultimately decided to turn the page and start writing my next chapter.
With that being said fighting indeed saved my life. I gave it my all every-time I stepped into an Octagon and that’s something I’m at peace with. This opportunity taught me more about myself than anything else. It molded me into the man that can handle becoming the best version of himself, it helped me find my best friend and soon to be beautiful wife, and it showed me that I CAN do anything I set my mind to.
Argueta joined the UFC in 2022. His debut was a decision loss to Damon Jackson, but he quickly earned his first win by defeating Nick Aguirre in his subsequent fight.
This victory proved to be his only official win in the promotion. His record was later affected by two consecutive no contests. One notable instance was a decision loss to Miles Johns that was later overturned after Johns tested positive for a banned substance.
His last two fights in the UFC resulted in back-to-back losses against Jean Matsumoto and Cody Haddon, bringing his tenure with the organization to an end.

Argueta concludes his professional MMA career, which began in 2017, with a record of 9-3, along with two no contests.
