The current focus is on the upcoming WBC super-lightweight title fight between Alberto Puello and Sandor Martin, scheduled for March 1 at the Barclays Center in New York. This bout will be part of the undercard for the Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach event.

According to Sulaiman’s statement, the winner of Puello vs Martin will be permitted one voluntary defense before facing mandatory challenger Smith. This arrangement sets the stage for an exciting future matchup involving the British boxer.

Puello, currently undefeated with a 23-0 record, was elevated to full champion status after winning the WBC interim title against Gary Antuanne Russell. Martin, with a record of 42-3, is looking to build momentum following a controversial loss to Teofimo Lopez in 2022.
