Conor Benn believes a tactical game plan is unnecessary for his upcoming April 26 main event against long-time rival Chris Eubank Jr. His strategy is simple: move forward aggressively from the opening bell at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, directly confronting his opponent.
“Yeah, I`m coming here to take his head off,” Benn stated grimly during a measured press conference performance earlier today.
Before Conor spoke, his father, Nigel Benn, shared anecdotes from sparring sessions, suggesting that `The Destroyer` had handled tough opponents like Bruno Surace (who defeated Jaime Munguia) and William Scull (next up for Canelo).
Chris Eubank Jr had fewer words but warned he would “take his adversary to school” on Saturday night. Eubank Jr playfully adopted a headmaster persona, pretending to assign Benn “detention” and deal with him accordingly.
Mostly disregarding Chris`s verbal jabs, Benn added, “I`m excited to get in there and put my hands on him Saturday night. All the rubbish he wants to talk and the names he calls, this isn`t school. On Saturday night, I actually get to put my hands on him.”
The main event fighters took the stage following a tense undercard portion of the press conference marked by sharp remarks and personal insults. American cruiserweight Brandon Glanton, in particular, was notably confrontational.
For the main event, the rivalry has captured significant attention, partly due to the legacy of their famous boxing fathers. Nigel Benn was present, seated at the top table supporting his son. Chris Eubank Sr, however, has been absent from the public events, serving as a vocal critic of the fight and his son`s involvement.
