British welterweight champion Conah Walker believes he can offer rising talent Pat McCormack a harsh introduction to the professional boxing scene.

The crowd-pleasing fighter is coming off a remarkable 11th-round stoppage victory over the tricky Harry Scarff, where he managed to halt his opponent after being significantly behind on the judges` scorecards.

This stunning comeback win, which followed a unanimous decision victory against Lewis Ritson, saw Walker claim the British and Commonwealth titles last January.

Now, Walker, who holds a record of 15-3-1 with 6 knockouts, is preparing to deliver another exciting performance when he steps into the ring against Liam Taylor on June 21st.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England, as part of a Matchroom Boxing card headlined by Galal Yafai vs Francisco Rodriguez Jr.

However, while Walker is not overlooking his immediate opponent, he also acknowledges that another significant bout could easily materialise soon after, provided he successfully defends his championships.

Olympic silver medallist Pat McCormack, with a professional record of 7-0 and 5 knockouts, has earned the mandatory challenger position for the 30-year-old champion`s coveted Lonsdale Belt.

McCormack secured this mandatory spot with a dominant sixth-round stoppage win over the seasoned veteran Robbie Davies Jr in a title eliminator fight held in February.

Despite McCormack`s impressive and clinical performance against Davies, Walker expressed no reservations about facing him, pointing out that McCormack, aside from his amateur achievements, is still in the process of proving himself as a robust professional fighter.

Furthermore, the champion from the Midlands fully understands that to win the British title outright, he will inevitably need to face the promising prospect at some point.

“I’d definitely like to fight him,” Walker stated. “I respect his career accomplishments, but he’s someone I’m keeping an eye on.

“I`d give him a real welcome to the pro game, and when we fight, it will be a significant learning experience for him.

“The thing about me is, I’m a difficult opponent for anyone. You could hit me hard, and I`ll still keep coming forward.

“He`ll have to knock me out to beat me, and if he can`t, he`s going to be in trouble.”
