Colby Covington wasn`t about to let Paddy Pimblett bask in the limelight alone at UFC 314.
Following his most significant victory to date on Saturday in Miami, where he secured a third-round knockout against seasoned lightweight contender Michael Chandler in the co-main event, Pimblett found himself unexpectedly confronted by Covington backstage.
During a post-fight interview, Covington suddenly approached Pimblett and launched a verbal attack, questioning the caliber of his UFC opponents.
In a video capturing the exchange, Covington can be heard saying, “You’re fighting scrubs. Guys who are 2-6. You’re a bum. You beat guys who are 2-6, remember that. Remember that, you’re a scrub… You’re a fraud.”
Pimblett quickly retorted, pointing out Covington’s “three-fight losing streak.”
While Covington is currently on a two-fight losing streak, his record in his last four fights is indeed 1-3, with his last victory dating back to March 2022 against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272.
Currently, Pimblett is focused on his aspirations for the lightweight championship, having called out top-ranked contenders Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Charles Oliveira after his win over Chandler.
