Chris Eubank Jr Predicts ‘deciding Factor’ In Conor Benn Showdown

Sports news » Chris Eubank Jr Predicts ‘deciding Factor’ In Conor Benn Showdown

Chris Eubank Jr appears relaxed yet visibly confident as he looks ahead to his much-anticipated fight against domestic rival Conor Benn.

Originally scheduled for 2022, the fight was postponed after Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) failed two Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) tests for the banned substance clomifene.

However, the 28-year-old Benn`s professional boxing ban in the UK has since been lifted by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP), paving the way for this profitable confrontation with Eubank (34-3, 25 KOs) happening this Saturday.

The middleweight contest, which includes a 10lb rehydration clause, will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London and has certainly sparked debate.

Despite having a natural size advantage, Eubank firmly believes his greater experience will be the crucial element.

Speaking at yesterday’s Grand Arrivals, he stated, “This fight is not determined by size or weight. It’s about skill, dedication, and expertise – areas where I significantly excel.”

He added, “I possess considerably more years of experience than Conor Benn, and that will ultimately decide the outcome.”

Indeed, Eubank has competed at a much higher level throughout his career compared to Benn, whose most significant win was against a faded Chris Algieri in 2021.

Even in his losses, particularly against Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves, the 35-year-old Eubank demonstrated resilience and, notably, an exceptional ability to take a punch.

However, his durability was tested when Liam Smith achieved a notable upset by stopping the Brighton fighter in the fourth round in 2023.

Yet, in their immediate rematch, Eubank delivered arguably his best performance to date, stopping Smith, who later admitted he wasn`t at his peak.

Nevertheless, Eubank seems to anticipate a similarly dominant performance against Benn, echoing the confident declarations often made by his legendary father.

Commenting on the projected outcome, he said, “The procedure will be methodical. That`s the only detail I`ll provide about the finish.”

He concluded, “If everything unfolds as planned, I will resemble a matador in the ring, with Conor Benn playing the role of the bull.”
