Chris Eubank Jr And Frank Warren Settle Defamation Lawsuit

Chris Eubank Jr and promoter Frank Warren have reached a more peaceful resolution to the legal action initiated against Eubank Jr concerning controversial remarks he made last September.

During a press conference for the initial bout between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, the 35-year-old fighter delivered sharp criticism, labeling several prominent UK boxing promoters as ‘scumbags.’

Among those targeted were Eddie Hearn, Frank Smith, and Kalle Sauerland. However, it was Frank Warren, the head of Queensberry Promotions, who subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit.

Warren’s decision to take legal steps was prompted less by the specific `scumbag` insult and more by other, allegedly slanderous accusations made by Eubank that caused significant issues.

Aware of the potential repercussions, the former world title contender quickly apologized afterwards, posting on social media to retract his ‘inaccurate statements.’

Yet, despite publicly acknowledging the apology, Warren proceeded with the lawsuit against Eubank, whose professional record stands at 35-3 (25 KOs), and has clearly not supported him since.

The fighter from Brighton had strained relations with the Queensberry promoter even before his seventh-round victory via stoppage over Kamil Szeremeta, which persisted through the build-up to his significantly more lucrative fight against Conor Benn several months later.

Throughout the period leading up to their planned April clash, Warren frequently expressed dissatisfaction when asked about the fight, even stating his hope that Benn would knock out the middleweight.

However, the two appear to have now resolved their differences. Queensberry announced via social media earlier today that both parties have reached an understanding.

A statement released on X confirmed: “Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr confirm that the defamation proceedings against Chris Eubank Jr have been settled amicably.”

The statement added: “With these proceedings now settled, both Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr look forward to a positive, professional relationship in the future.”
