Marlon “Chito” Vera grabbed attention during the fight week leading up to UFC 313.
A video went viral on Friday morning showing Vera working on his red truck when a man approached him with a knife, seemingly trying to rob him in his driveway. The UFC bantamweight fighter then quickly got into his truck, pulled out a shotgun, and the alleged robber immediately ran away.
Many fans on X (formerly Twitter) quickly speculated that the incident was staged. According to sources close to the situation, it has been confirmed that the video was indeed a skit, and not a real robbery attempt.
Vera has experienced losses in three of his last four fights. His most recent fight was against Deiveson Figueiredo this past August, where he lost by unanimous decision.
Vera is scheduled to compete against Mario Bautista at UFC Des Moines on May 3rd.
