Sports news ยป Caoimhin Agyarko to Battle Ryan Kelly on Short Notice

An injury has sidelined Ishmael Davis, leading to a change in opponent for Ryan Kelly. Unbeaten boxer Caoimhin Agyarko will now step in to face Kelly.

Davis, who has a record of 13 wins and 2 losses, with 6 knockouts, was originally scheduled to fight Kelly on April 19th. Davis is known for taking fights on short notice, as seen in his recent bouts against Serhii Bohachuk and Josh Kelly.

Despite having a full training camp this time, Davis had to withdraw from the upcoming fight with Kelly, who has a record of 19 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 8 knockouts.

Agyarko, with a perfect record of 16 wins and 7 knockouts, has agreed to fight Kelly on just 10 days` notice. The super-welterweight fight will take place at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield, England.

While Kelly`s tricky boxing style might pose challenges, Agyarko is not coming into this fight unprepared.

Agyarko, aged 28, recently fought at the end of last month against Harley Collison. He won that fight by points over eight rounds, even knocking down his opponent.

Prior to that, Agyarko had a tough and exciting fight against Troy Williamson in 2023, winning by split decision over 10 rounds.

Since then, Agyarko faced limited opportunities, which led to him parting ways with promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. However, this split was amicable, but his career had become somewhat stagnant.

By accepting this fight against Kelly, Agyarko has a chance to revitalize his career. This fight could be the start of a new and exciting phase for him.

This fight will be part of a Matchroom Boxing event headlined by Dalton Smith, who will be defending his unbeaten record against Mathieu Germain.
