The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford now has a new date, and its location will be announced soon.

Boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh revealed via The Ring magazine that the super middleweight title bout, initially planned for September 12th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, has been rescheduled. The new date is September 13th, and the venue is yet to be determined.

Potential host cities for the event, which is part of Alalshikh`s Riyadh Season series, include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York. This fight will also mark the debut event for Dana White`s TKO Boxing promotion.

According to ESPN, the change in venue is partly due to the UNLV college football team having a game scheduled against Idaho State at Allegiant Stadium on September 13th.

Adding intrigue to the date change is the fact that September 13th is also the date for UFC 320, held in Guadalajara, Mexico (billed as the third UFC Noche event). Although a potential location in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, could result in an earlier North American start time, hosting the fight in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, or New York as rumored would put it in direct conflict with the UFC event.

Neither Alalshikh nor White have publicly commented on this potential scheduling conflict.

Canelo`s recent activity includes defeating William Scull on May 3rd to regain the undisputed super middleweight championship (63-2-2). He had previously lost this status when he vacated the IBF belt, which Scull then claimed. The fight against Scull was heavily criticized for its low volume of punches, reportedly setting a CompuBox record for the fewest thrown in a 12-round bout since 1985.

Terence Crawford (41-0) is making a significant jump, moving up two weight classes from super welterweight to challenge Canelo. In his last fight in August, Crawford maintained his undefeated record with a unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov.
