Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to face off in what promises to be the biggest boxing event of 2025. The Mexican boxing icon recently stated that defeating Crawford would be considered a major highlight of his extensive career.

Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) has had a remarkable career, securing titles in four weight classes and becoming a two-time undisputed champion. He has notable wins against fighters like Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and Miguel Cotto.

Initially, when a fight against Terence Crawford (41-0, 30 KOs), the undisputed welterweight champion, was first suggested, Alvarez didn`t seem particularly interested. He argued that beating a naturally smaller fighter from the 147-pound division wouldn`t significantly enhance his legacy.

However, the fight has now been officially announced. It is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at the 65,000-seater Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will be broadcast globally on Netflix.

Given the immense scale of this event, set to be unmatched in boxing next year, the anticipation for the showdown between these two top pound-for-pound fighters is already building.

Alvarez commented that a win against Crawford, known as `Bud`, would rank among his best victories. He specifically mentioned it would be “one of the top five” wins in his professional career.

As the fight date approaches, speculation about the undercard bouts has started, including talk of a potential heavyweight clash as part of the main four-fight event planned for Las Vegas.
