Sports news » Bruno Silva Shares Health Update After Frightening Knockout at UFC 315

Bruno Silva suffered a distressing first-round knockout loss to Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 315 in Montreal on Saturday, an outcome so concerning that he had to be removed from the octagon on a stretcher.

The UFC later announced during the broadcast that Silva, known by his nickname “Blindado,” had been taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation after reporting neck pain. They noted he remained alert and had mobility in all his extremities.

Several hours following the event, Silva posted on Instagram to provide an update on his health status.

On Instagram, Silva shared (translated from Portuguese): “Just stopping by to let you know I’m okay. I went to the hospital for tests, and everything is good with my health.”

Silva has previously spoken openly about the mental health struggles he`s experienced leading up to recent bouts. He told MMA Fighting he prioritized treatment after UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard gave him what seemed like a final opportunity.

Having now lost five consecutive fights, including the first knockout defeat in his 36-fight professional career, Silva is likely done with the UFC. He expressed disappointment at not securing a victory, as he had hoped to use the platform to share his story of overcoming adversity with a larger audience.

Silva wrote further: “I’ve gotten many messages from people who truly care about me. I was prepared, I wanted to win so I could share my message about everything I overcame to get back on my feet, but that’s how life goes. I am a winner, and this particular moment will not define my story or my legacy. All honor and glory be to God.”

Silva`s tenure in the UFC concludes with a promotional record of 4-7. All four of his victories came via knockout, notably against opponents like Brad Tavares and Jordan Wright.

Barriault, fighting in his native Canada, successfully ended a three-fight skid with this victory. His overall mixed martial arts record now stands at 17-9 (1 NC).
