The highly anticipated flyweight clash between Brandon Royval and Manel Kape is officially scheduled.
Confirmed by MMA Fighting, Royval and Kape will compete in a flyweight match at UFC 317, taking place on June 28 in Las Vegas. News of the fight was initially reported by Laerte Viana.
Previously slated to headline UFC Vegas 103 in March, the Royval-Kape fight was postponed due to Royval`s concussion recovery. Kape instead fought Asu Almabayev, winning by third-round TKO. Now recovered, Royval and Kape are set to fight at the T-Mobile Arena.
This flyweight contest is considered crucial as it could determine the next contender for champion Alexandre Pantoja. Royval, currently ranked #1, has secured two victories since his loss to Pantoja at UFC 296, while Kape has won six of his last eight fights since his own defeat against Pantoja.
UFC 317 is the annual International Fight Week event. This Royval vs Kape fight is the first major announcement for the card, with more fights expected to be added soon.
