Devin Haney secured a victory in his recent return bout, but his reputation arguably suffered in the process.

This was Haney`s first fight since the controversial Ryan Garcia match in April 2024. He won by unanimous decision after a widely criticized 12 rounds at Times Square, New York. The fight was marked by a significant lack of action, with Haney largely avoiding engagement and throwing few notable punches. His opponent, Jose Ramirez, also failed to pose a significant threat, allowing Haney to comfortably win on the scorecards with tallies of 119-109, 119-109, and 118-110.

For the 26-year-old fighter, this was not the impressive comeback performance many expected. He was aiming to rebound from his disputed loss to Ryan Garcia, a defeat later voided and changed to a No Contest due to Garcia`s failed drug test.

Following the fight, particularly according to online reactions, the performance did little to build anticipation for a potential rematch. Fellow fighters were highly critical of Haney`s display, with some jokingly suggesting they deserved payment for enduring the bout, reflecting sentiments like, “They should be paying me to watch this.”
