Alex Pereira is optimistic despite losing his UFC light heavyweight title and intends to perform better against Magomed Ankalaev in a potential rematch.
“Poatan” suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Ankalaev in the UFC 313 main event on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Ankalaev successfully implemented his strategy, while Pereira struggled to find his rhythm.
Following the defeat, Pereira shared a video message on Instagram thanking his fans and assuring them he will return stronger for the rematch.
“I’m going to make some adjustments for the rematch, and I’ll be back much better, you can count on it. Never give up on your dreams,” Pereira stated.
Pereira defended his title for the fourth time in just eleven months, achieving a 3-0 record in 2024 with knockout victories over Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka, and Khalil Rountree.
At the UFC 313 post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White suggested that a rematch between Ankalaev and Pereira is likely to be the next step.
