Exciting super-lightweight boxer Adam Azim is aiming to solidify his position as a top world contender after a dominant victory in his recent fight.
The 23-year-old impressed in his last performance against Sergey Lipinets, completely outclassing the former world champion.
Azim`s incredible speed and adaptability proved too much for the seasoned veteran, who was eventually stopped in the ninth round after enduring significant punishment.
Following his February win against Lipinets, Azim also delivered a powerful performance against Ohara Davies, another well-known domestic fighter, securing a similarly impressive victory.
Now, with a record of 13 wins and no losses, including 10 knockouts, Azim is eager to accelerate his ascent in the boxing world. Steve Claggett and Regis Prograis have emerged as leading candidates for his next opponent.
Claggett, with a record of 39-8-2 and 27 knockouts, is perhaps most recognized for going the distance with WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. However, in that fight, Lopez was widely considered to have underperformed against Claggett, who has not consistently demonstrated high-level performance in the division.
Prograis, a former two-time world champion with a record of 29-3 and 24 knockouts, presents a more compelling and challenging matchup. Despite being 36 years old and nearing the end of his career, Prograis remains a dangerous and skilled fighter.
In his previous fight against Jack Catterall, Prograis showcased his offensive power by knocking down Catterall, although he was also dropped himself. This performance highlighted Prograis`s diverse attacking skills and defensive agility.
However, despite these potential opponents, Azim and his team have not yet finalized their choice for his upcoming fight.
“We’re targeting a return in July,” Azim mentioned. “I am currently training and looking forward to my next fight.”
“We are aiming for a world-class opponent – we are not looking at lower-level fighters, but beyond that.”
“It could be Steve Claggett; it could be Regis Prograis; there are also a few other names in consideration – we are still deciding.”
